Client Problem
Client’s sales and operations planning process tool differed across the business units- one business unit utilized SAP APO for demand which will not be supported in the future, and spreadsheets for supply planning and the other business unit utilized spreadsheets. Client desired a planning tool to replace APO with the ability to support both businesses with an easy transition.
SCMC Solution
For the business using a manual planning process, SCMC designed a solution that allows flexibility for client’s production planning process with the added benefit of statistical forecasting for their demand and supply planning process.
For APO based business, SCMC designed and implemented demand planning processes for client’s Toll and Contract sales, implemented statistical forecasting, and built reports to support their S&OP process.
For supply planning, we systematized the planning, capacity management and blend planning processes, allowing client to sunset their APO system and have an integrated solution between supply and demand to support their S&OP process.
Results
Client now can manage their S&OP processes within one integrated tool as well as the ability to review their demand forecast against the statistical forecast. Client also stands to benefit from significant time savings in the S&OP process due to the supply planning being completed integrated within SAP IBP, as it had previously taken much longer to manually refresh the supply planning data.
