Client Problem
Client had difficulties with the siloed, spreadsheet-oriented nature of their planning processes. Additionally, there was a need (and want) to phase out APO, while adding in Inventory Optimization (something only in IBP). Finally, planners struggled using APO to forecast accessory products at various device group levels, something that would be alleviated in IBP.
SCMC Solution
SCM Connections created a unified planning approach that allowed for demand planning, supply planning, and inventory planning to all be done in one place. By enabling these processes in IBP and removing them from APO, client was able to see the effects of a change in one plan in other plans, something that was a struggle before. With the implementation of Demand (and some customizations), client was able to plan for new product introductions, promotions, and accessories in ways that they hadn’t been able to before. Finally, implementing Inventory allowed them to strategically place the correct amount of inventory at DC and retail stores.
Results
Improved the complete planning process by giving planners the ability to seamlessly plan for demand, inventory, and supply all in one area. Processes that were previously done in siloed spreadsheets were now done in IBP.
